Mother/Daughter Tea

Wow, has it really been a week since I last posted?  I've just been spending time with the kids and trying out some new things, like digital patterned paper.  This little note card box is the Card Catch All from Lauren Meader at My Time Made Easy.  While I was buying the template I was checking out her digital paper and decided it give it a try.  WOW!  It was so fun and easy to do.  I even made my own double sided paper to make this box!  I'm now obsessed with digital paper and have spent too much crafting time scouring the internet for more paper.  LOL

My daughter Brooke and I will be attending a Mother/Daughter Tea at the church and I'm going to donate this set for their silent auction.  I'm working on another set but with a different theme that I might donate as well.  This little project was so much fun to do and I think it would make a great gift.

Anyone for a Picnic?

Handmade Recipe Box

This is my new recipe box, isn't it adorable? I really love the way it turned out. I've always wanted a recipe box that looked like a Picnic Basket!

I LOVE collecting recipes and have a huge collection that I have to dig through to find what I want. I do have a "favorite recipe" drawer in my kitchen that holds tons of recipes that I have cut out of magazines or printed off the internet, basically it's a disaster. So I decided it was time to finally do something about it. I've put it off for YEARS because I was on the search for {the perfect recipe box}....well, for me it doesn't exist. Oh there are some really cute ones out there but they were always too small for me. I like my recipe cards BIG!! So since I couldn't buy what I was looking for I decided to make my own!

I made the entire box by cutting sheets of chipboard to the measurements I wanted. I used really strong tape to assemble it and then covered it with cardstock. I wish I'd taken a picture of it "naked", it was really ugly!! I was beginning to wonder what I had been wasting my time doing.

The entire box is 10" long 5 1/2" tall and 5 1/2" deep. (My recipe cards will be 8x5 - giving me plenty of room) I covered the inside with light yellow cardstock and used leather trim as the baskets handles that I purchased at JoAnn's. I attached the handles by punching a small hold through the trim and using decorative brads to hold them onto the box. It worked out great, you can actually hold the entire box using the handles and the box is very sturdy too.

Next week I hope to show you some recipe cards that I'm making from that drawer!

Ruffles Get Well Soon

Yep, another get well card. I have been wanting to use this stamp from Stampavie forever but just never got around to it. I LOVE IT!! Ruffles is so cute, the whole image was fun to color. I had to be patient because it gets a little tricky trying blend my Copic's around those little flowers. Are you wondering what possessed me to color the little sofa aqua green? It was Copics Colour Challenge, to use these colors on your card.
It wouldn't have been colors I would have thought to use together, but I think it really turned out nice. It had a masculine feel to it, now I want to make a girly one just like it. (You might be seeing that in a few days, LOL)

The DP is a combination of My Mind's Eye Home stack and Bo Bunny. The oval and scalloped oval were made with my Cricut Storybook cartridge. (They didn't seem to match up perfectly, but I still like it) My oval Nestibilities were not large enough to fit this image.

This card is for the following challenges:

Copic Colour Challenge # 59 = Use

Sofa = BG75, BG72, BG34

My Husband RAWKS!!!!

Eddie Ramlakhan

And he's cute too!
My husband is the greatest, he really is. This man is an IT Geek who fixes network systems all day (whatever that means, LOL) but he can also build like nobody's business.

When we first moved into our new home almost 5 years ago, it was a 3 bedroom house with a huge loft area upstairs...now it's a 5 bedroom home with an office loft, and HE BUILT IT himself!!! He built my son's room when we found out that we were expecting and made me a dream office with this beautiful furniture right next to my son's new room.

Well, that didn't last long. When our son was 4 1/2 months old we were surprised with the news that we were expecting AGAIN!!! So my beautiful office became our daughters new bedroom, LOL! My husband knew how sad I was to give up my office and that I hadn't had much time to use or enjoy it; so he redesigned the ENTIRE upstairs to give me my own space. He took a HUGE 10x10 walk-in closet out of my step-daughters room, built her a new closet and added floor space over our open staircase. And it is AWESOME! He was even able to fit all of my furniture into this new space. Anyone who has ever seen our home always believes that this is how it has always been and not a remodel at all. That is just how finished and professional it looks. He is excellent!

So your probably thinking, "WOW, no wonder she's so excited, that's great!". Well you'd be wrong. It is great, it really is. He did all of that 2 years ago now and here is the sad thing...I never use it! Yep. Never. Why? Because I have toddlers, and they want to play downstairs. All of my supplies are upstairs, but I create downstairs at our formal dining room table. Upstairs is just not practical right now with a 2 & 3 year old. But what I've been doing just isn't practical either. I run up and down the stairs going for different supplies and leave what my husband calls "my junk" out on the dining room table for days and days.

So I convinced him to make me a new space. Neither of us wanted to make an "office" downstairs but I needed something. So he created this for me over the weekend.

Isn't FABULOUS!!!! I am so excited! I just keep looking in there and admiring everything. LOL It's like walking into a tiny scrapbook store. Everything is so organized and pretty. All of my stuff feels NEW! (Maybe if I can quit fawning over it I'll start using it)

This is the coat closet behind our front door.

It is PERFECT. Now, just so you know...all I did was show him all my "junk" and he built it to make a space for it all and decided how it should look. He did better than I could have organizing it all. I've actually NEVER been this organized.

He wasted no space. He even bought small shelves to put my stamps that I store in CD cases on. There's a hook that hold my ribbon organizer and he hung my Tonic cutter on the wall, and put my Cricut Cartridge organizer on small shelf too. I still will work at the dining room table, but all of my things have there own place and are within reach now. No more running upstairs because blue cardstock would be better to use than the green that I brought down. LOL

Everything I need, fits in here and he has ideas if/when I need more space. I just love it and I just LOVE HIM!!!!
Ok, off to try and get the little one's down for a nap and play with my new space.
Just wanted you to share in my excitement and to give my husband some LOVE on my blog!

Under the weather....

I figured since I have been under the weather, and I had no Get Well Soon cards on hand, this was the perfect time to make some. This is Rainy Day Emma from CC Designs. I was inspired to make a little rain puddle by Tori at Wild Sprinkles which was so easy to do. I love the little details... Glossy Accent to give her rain coat/boots tons of shine and I colored the jewels with my Copic marker since I didn't have any red ones.

Here you can really see the glossy shine to her rain coat and boots.

This card is for the following Challenges:

Hi

This card totally took me out of my comfort zone. I've never made a circle card, and honestly I'm not sure I like it. I wanted to give it a try because they look so pretty and dainty. But the circle cards I seem to be drawn to are those with sentiments on them only and not with images.

I also used paper in my "Ewww, what were you thinking?" stash. (We all have one of those right?) I seem to have more of that than I care to admit. So I promised myself that the next card I made to use something from that stash. So the fact that I don't like the paper is throwing me off too. Oh well, they can't all be winners. LOL

This is CC Designs, Cherry Emma and she is just darling! Both Emma and the stump are digi images and I knew right away that I wanted to cut her out and use pop-dots to give it depth. I added Stickles to the cherries and Shimmerz to the tops of the mushrooms.

This card is for the following challenges:

All That Scraps Week 24 Challenge = Shaped card and image sold at ATS
The Pink Elephant Challenge # 61 = Nature
Simon Says Stamps Challenge = Card for a Child
Stampin for the Weekend = Ribbons & Bows
Raise the Bar Challenge = Let's Spring for It

Copics Used:
Hair: E57,E35, E34, Y26, E31
Skin: E00, E50, (R00 Blush)
Shirt: R22, R11, R00
Pants: R24, R22, R20
Mushrooms: R59, R29, R20 - Y26, Y21, Y13
Stump: E59, E25, E35, E31 (Too close to her hair color - Won't do that again)
Grass: G99, G24, G40

I apologize for being MIA all week, I've been under the weather ever since Sunday. Hope to have something new to show you tomorrow.

Gift Card Holder

I made this very simple gift card holder as my Mom's birthday card. Her birthday is this Sunday and with all the attention on Easter I wanted to make her something a little special. (I love this little gift card holder so much that I almost don't want to give it away!) When I finished coloring her I thought she looks a little like Wednesday from the Addams Family. hee hee :)

I found the instructions for this gift card holder MONTHS ago on SplitCoast Stampers but I never saved the link, I just wrote the measurements down. Sorry :(

The base of the card is 4 1/4″ wide x 11″ long. I used my Scor-Pal and scored at 3″, 4 1/4″, 5 1/2″, and 8 1/2″. I used my MS border punch and magnets from Basic Grey to keep it closed.

Here you can see that I covered the magnet with another decorative panel. The fun thing about this gift card holder is that it looks like a small card and you can decorate the inside too with a sentiment or even stamp another coordinating image.

I used CC Designs, Swiss Miss Rosalie (Digi) from All That Scraps. I cut her out and used Pop Dots and then colored the roses twice and popped them up again. Tiny little pearls on her dress, Accent Gloss on her shoes and a hint of Shimmerz on the roses. I just LOVE her!!!

This is for the following Challenges:

All That Scraps = Spring Bling
Your Next Stamp = Purple
Copic Creations = Flowers

Copics Used:
Hair - C9, C7, C5, C3
Skin - E00, E50 (R00 Blush)
Dress/ Shoes - BV04, BV02, BV000
Roses - V15, V01, V000

Bunny Treats

OK, just how stinkin' cute is this?!?!

Last week 2 Cute Rubber Stamps began their 2nd Challenge with another FREE digi image! Cute and FREE, how could anyone resist? If you want yours, HOP on over here. Heidi loves to give away free stamps too, so participate in their challenge for your chance to win.

When I saw this little bunny I knew he would be perfect on a project I wanted to make for my children's Easter baskets. I originally saw the idea for this Carrot Cone on Becky Roberts Blog. I wanted to use the Bunny Digi image from 2 Cute and some raffia rather than a ribbon. I didn't have a bag to put the candy in so I improvised....I used a Wilton's Icing Bag. LOL It was the perfect shape!

I made the treat holder using my Cricut and the Storybook Cartridge. I cut a 6" scalloped circle and (1) 2 3/4" oval and (2) 2 1/4" ovals for the carrot top. Used Scor-tape to keep it all together and filled with candy. (And it actually holds a lot of candy!)

This project is for the following challenges:
2 Cute Rubber Stamps = Use their Free Digi
Pile It On = Animal-Riffic - Challenge # 12
Fantabulous Cricut = Bling (I used Shimmerz on the lollipop)
Stamp Simply = Easter

Copics Used:
RV34, RV32, R20, R11, E41, Y17, Y13, Y11, BG0000
