Blog Candy Thank You

So are you wondering what happened to Wendy's Whimsy?
Nothing....I'm still here, and yes you're in the right place.
It's just a little name change that's all.  Why?
Well, SugarPea is my daughters nickname and I think it describes her perfectly.  Sweet, small and cute!!
That also is how I would describe my card making style and thought the name "SugarPea" suited this blogging endeavour of mine better than "Whimsy".

So there you have it...

I am going to have some FABOULOUS Blog Candy as a thank you to my followers who re-signing up as a follower on my new blog SugarPea Designs. (I'll have a picture up in a few days) This is not a get more followers type of blog candy, but a true THANK YOU GIFT to those of you who follow me and leave me such sweet and lovely comments.  And if you have a link to my blog on your like a blog roll or something...would you change the link?  If you do and you leave me a comment here, I'll enter your name twice into the drawing for the blog candy.

I debated switching my name and getting a new blog address because I really didn't want to lose the followers friends that I had made. (But my husband talked me into it....so I blame him!!  LOL)
All of your comments mean so much to me and is a big highlight to my day.

Well, thanks for putting up with my nonsense.  (In other words...I know this is silly and I appreciate you humoring me.  LOL)

Just "Bee"cause

Good Morning Everyone!!
It's Tuesday and that means it's a 2 Cute Tuesday!!

I decided to FINALLY make an easel card, (now that it is "so last year" LOL)  They are really a lot of fun and perfect for when you want to fit a little more stuff on your card.  I've used Bumble Bee Cutie which is a new release from 2 Cute. I got so excited when I saw him and starting thinking of all kinds of fun ideas to use him for.  I also remembered that I had this little wooden bee and bee hive that would be perfect.  I have seriously had them for 15 years.  And the button is most likely 10 years old.  You know that stash that you just know you'll use some day?  Well I can't tell you how good it felt to actually use them.  LOL  (Great, now I've made myself sound like a hoarder.  LOL)

Shopping Willow Gift Card Holder

This has got to me one of my most favorite projects ever!!  I really needed a gift card holder that would be large enough for me to use this adorable Wiff of Joy, Shopping Willow stamp that I've been dying to use.  Every template I had was too small for the image.  After I stopped pouting about not having the Stamping Up Top Note die, I got to looking around at what I do have.  I tried different but similar shapes with my Cricut cartridges, but didn't like the results. So I pulled out my new and never used before Nestibilities Label 8 and played around with it until I came up with this!!

It holds a gift card PERFECTLY!!

Yesterday was my niece's 18th birthday party.  And it gave the family a chance to get together and see her before she leaves for college in a few weeks.  I really wanted a pretty way to present her gift.  And I was so happy with the way it came out, that when I was finished I had a hard time giving it away.  LOL

I used my favorite paper, (DCWV Linen Closet) and also had my image coming out of the frame again.  (That is such a fun technique.)   And I paper pieced her bags and added a little Shimmerz to the tissue paper too.

I'm thinking about doing a tutorial on how I made this gift card holder.  And may also do a tutorial on the image coming out of the frame technique too.  If that sounds like something you'd be interested in seeing, would you PLEASE leave me a comment.

I tried to color my Willow to look like my Niece.  :)

It's Christmas in July

It's Christmas in July over at Aud Sentiments for our Challenge #7.  Yep, it's time to start thinking about Christmas and we all know it will be here before we know it.  Our challenge this week is
  Choose Your Own Christmas Sentiment.
We make it so easy don't we?  :)  So get out those Christmas images and get a jump start on all of those Christmas cards that you're going to have to make this year.  This challenge will run until Aug 3rd.

Our Sponsor this week is

and they are offering a $10 Gift Certificate their store to our winner!!

The DT was graciously given images from Digi Doodle Shop for their sample cards.  I have used Christmas Delight.  I'm not a coffee drinker, but I love how it smells and the cute designs that you see made in the coffee with the cream.  I'll be honest, this is not how I expected this card to come out.  I originally colored the image on white cardstock, but didn't like the look.  I switched to Kraft cardstock and still wasn't thrilled over the outcome but was running short on time and had to call it good enough. The only thing I really like is how the shading came out on the saucer.

I've used ton's of Papertrey Ink products...the paper (all of it), the ribbon, the ink and the sentiment.

Challenges:
Christmas Cards All Year Round = Anything Goes
Stampavie and More = #102 Anything Goes
Stamp Something = Digital
Digi Doodle Challenge = #17 Anything Goes
Stamptacular Sundays = #69 Christmas in July

Thanks for stopping by!

Take Note!!

Anyone who knows me knows that I LOVE notebooks!! It is a strange school supply attraction/obsession that I have. (I also have this same obsession with recipe books, day planners, and address books too, but we won't go into that right now.  LOL)   But, I really enjoy making my own.  Here's a peek at the inside.  I used sheets of chipboard and cut them to make my notebook a 5x7.  The papers are October Afternoon (Fly a Kite) and the ribbon, buttons, and chipboard shapes are all from American Crafts (Dear Lizzy).  I sanded the edges and then used Tim Holtz Distressing Ink (Vintage Photo) to give it that vintage/shabby look.  I LOVE IT!!!!  I used 7/8" O-Wire for my Bind-It-All and put it all together.  The inside sheets are just notebook paper that I cut down.

I like having a little notebook nearby when I'm making my cards so that I can quickly jot down the supplies and Copic markers that I've used. Then when I'm ready to make a post on my blog, I just grab my notebook and I have all my info right there.  This little notebook will be so fun to look at and use everyday!!  Most of the supplies came from my friend Nana, who sent me some really yummy blog candy last week.  When I opened the package I knew right away what I wanted to do with it.  She has made some really cute notebooks recently and looking at her stuff inspired this little creation.  (Not near as good as hers'....she does beautiful stitching on her projects - but I think she would like it.)  Go take a look at her blog.  You'll love it!!

Okay, I promised to share some vacation photo's from last week so here they are!!

Thanks for stopping by today!!  :)

I Sea it's your Birthday!!

Good Morning!!  I had a great vacation and I promise to post some pictures later this week.  I wanted to thank everyone for stopping by last week and leaving me such sweet comments.  (I would sneak a peek at them on my cell phone.)  LOL

It's 2 Cute Tuesday which means it's time for another DT card.
I've created this under the sea porthole card for my brother-in-law's birthday using Sting Ray Kids.  It's hard to tell from the photo above, but there is clear acetate in front of the image to really give it that feeling that your looking through glass.  The porthole is also popped up with dimensionals to give it depth.  I used my C3 Copic marker to give a very heavy shadow on the image so that it looks like the porthole is casting a shadow on the water.  Don't they look like that they're in an aquarium?  I added Glossy Accents to their eyes and Shimmerz to the coral and seaweed.

Challenges:
Sentimental Sundays = #11 I can see clearly now
Cupcake Craft Challenge = #99 Acetate
Ai Factory = #43 Green with Envy (reused acetate from packaging)

Aud Sentiments - Challenge # 6

Wow, it's time for another Aud Sentiments challenge. This is our 6th challenge where we are mixing it up this time and challenging you to use...No Sentiment.  Hey...could it get any easier?!?!  So come on and join us, this challenge will run until July 19th.

  Our sponsor is

I used a technique that I had never tried before by allowing the image to flow out of the framed nestibilities shape.  It has such a WOW factor and is so easy.  The image is a digital stamp from our sponsor called,  Bonnie. This little sweetie reminds me so much of my daughter, Brooke.   She doesn't have a bunny, but an Eeyore.  Eeyore goes EVERYWHERE that Brookie goes.  Thank God he has never become lost.  I seriously don't think she'd survive without him.

Here he is unattended and sporting the mowhawk hairdo she gives him every morning.  The second she realized that I was taking his picture, she snatched him from the table and told me NOT to take pictures of HER Eeyore.  LOL

This is how Eeyore and Brookie normally look...attached!!!
I actually washed him once and she screamed cried the entire time.  And if that wasn't bad enough, she laid down on floor in front of the washing machine until he came out.   See what I mean?  We can never loose him!  LOL

My family is celebrating our nation's birthday in our nation's oldest city... St. Augustine.  We go to the Castillo de San Marco Fort where we sit out on the lawn with our blankets and chairs (and of course food and drinks) play frisbee and wait for the fireworks.  It is such a beautiful place to celebrate the 4th and we've been going for a few years now.  It's such a sweet small town, it's the perfect place take the kids and spend time together as a family.  (It also helps that my sister and her family lives there too!!)

Bring on the MONSTERS!!!

I heard you gasp!!!  That's right...I scrapbook too!!  Not very often, but I do.  Like most of you I have TONS of supplies and paper (it's a sickness) but very little time to actually sit down and scrapbook.  So I've decided to give Digital Scrapbooking a try.  I can do this laying in bed beside hubby while he watches all his Science and Discovery Channel stuff.  I think I kind of like it.  Not as much fun as actually playing with the paper and other elements, but at least memories are being recorded.  I've resisted digital scrapbooking for so many reasons.  But life is all about choices, and I've had to decided what I want verses how much time I have.  This gets the job done and I don't have to feel guilty that I haven't "scrapbooked" that special birthday, event, etc.   If you know me in real life then you know that it can take 8+ hours for me to do (1) little scrapbook page.  So with the Digital Scrapbooking I've basically, decided to spend MORE time making the memories and LESS time recording them.  So what do you think of this layout?

(Journaling Reads: This was our family's 1st Monster Truck show and thus began Nathan's love of big loud trucks.  He was in complete awe as he watched each race and thrilled over how high they could jump.  Before the night was over he knew the names of the trucks and had his favorite...Gravedigger!  I was nervous that the noise would be too much for Brooke since she was only 10 months old, but she LOVED it!!  She cheered and clapped all night long.)

I signed up with Heritage Makers where they have page templates or you can design your own. (Of course I would only be interested in the hardest possible way...making my own. LOL)   Once you're finished, you just click a button and they print and ship your new scrapbook to you.   Hey, if this works out I might be purging some supplies.  Sounds like a lot of BLOG CANDY coming soon!!  :)

So a quick heads up to all of you....you might be seeing more of my scrapbook layouts here too.  :)

See you Sunday with a new card!!

This is my real note, but if you'd like to make one for yourself I found it HERE.

Thanks for Stopping by today!!
